On January 6th, 2007, two young people on a date in Knoxville were carjacked and kidnapped. Over the next four days, this is what happened to them at the hands of their five assailants: The woman was raped and tortured. Her breasts were cut off while she was still alive and bleach was forced down her throat to destroy any DNA evidence. After her death, her body was thrown in a dumpster. The man was bound and forced to watch his girlfriend get gang raped. They chopped off his penis, shot him, and burned him alive. His body was found by some railroad tracks. The assailants, four men and one woman, have since been arrested and face over forty five charges including carjacking, kidnapping, rape, premeditated murder, theft and robbery.
Sure, this is a big story in Tennessee, but why haven’t YOU heard about this?
The answer to this is simple: The victims, Channon Christian, 21, and Christopher Newsom, 23, were white. The assailants, Eric “E” Boyd, 34, George “Detroit” Thomas, 27, Lemaricus “Slim” Davidson, 25, Letalvis “Rome” Cobbins, 24, and Vanessa Coleman, 18, are all black.
Now, before I continue, I feel compelled to include the following disclaimer in accordance with the First Amendment to the First Amendment (better known as the Limbaugh/McNabb Act of 2003) that is required of all white people before talking about matters of race that does not include expressing regret for slavery or any other white crimes. Ahem: I do not believe that all black people act this way, I am not a racist, and this is a criticism of the news media and not the American black community. Although I realize that acknowledging this does not exempt my remarks from being taken out of context and paraded around by the liberal media and race-baiting a**holes as an example of how racism still exists in America.
…okay, NOW we can continue.
Let’s take a look back, shall we, to the Duke Lacrosse case. The mere allegation waged by a black stripper that she had been raped was enough for the entire liberal media, civil rights movement, the school faculty, administration, and student body to all come together in an effort to accuse and try the entire team in the court of public opinion. There was no doubt in anybody’s mind that these white sons of the rich had gang raped Crystal Gail Mangum, and that the crime was racially motivated. Even when inconsistencies in her story began to surface and her creditability was seriously called into question, the media kept protecting her identity while publishing everything they could about the alleged rapists. When it became clear that District Attorney Mike Nifong had a clear agenda while prosecuting the case in order to get the votes of his black constituents in his reelection, the media and civil rights activists gave him a pass. When all charges had to be dropped because of the glaring facts that Mangum had made up the whole thing and Nifong had ignored facts and bungled to prosecution, where could the innocent lacrosse players go to get their tattered reputations repaired?
And now, we move onto Don Imus and the infamous Rutgers “nappy headed hos” controversy. All Don Imus did was say a word that rappers use all the time in a joke. That was his job; to make irreverent jokes and gutter talk on the radio, and he had been doing it for more than thirty years. He was the liberal media and Democrat darling until this passing joke in the midst of discussing the NCAA basketball tournament. Media Matters picked up the story and ran it out of context, accusing him of racism. Race-baiting Heavyweight Champion of the World Al Sharpton began calling for his resignation. This was a major, major news story in April 2007, and all it took was three words. The coach of the team even said that the simple utterance of three words from someone she didn’t even know had somehow “tainted” the experience of the tournament. The impact of these three words shook the lives of the players so badly, that they all went on Oprah to talk about their feelings. Such an invitation was never extended to the wrongly accused members of the Duke Lacrosse team. Several groveling apologies later, Imus was fired.
So since the news media is all fired-up excited over anything that involves people of different skin color, why isn’t the brutal carjacking, kidnapping, torture, rape, and murder of Chris Newsom and Channon Christian a bigger story? When are we going to get frenzied coverage of the daily going ons of the case on CNN or Fox News? When is Reverend Sharpton going to denounce these crimes and accurately state that these are not representative of Black America? When is Oprah going to have the families of the victims on her show to talk about how these events have changed their lives forever? The fact is that we are not going to see any more of this story. Liberal media won’t touch it because it doesn’t fit into their narrow view of racial violence in America. Many conservative media outlets won’t touch it because they are afraid of the “racist” stamp and ensuing controversy that will eventually lead to their unemployment whenever someone even says the word “black” these days.
I forget, who was it that said that there was no agenda or bias in the news media?
